Nombres...

I've been pondering on the definitive symbol of our social identity, our name. You see it on your tax form, you see it on your diploma, its peeking at you from your disowned credit card bill and even your constant companion on that private beach you thought you had for yourself .
Understanding the need for a definitive noun to describe a complex social, biological, emotional entity such as you , requires an insight into the very nature of our society - We love nouns. Objects and Subjects - the act is secondary , the actor is primary. The reaction loses significance , all that matters is the reactor.
That is our social framework - the constant shifting of power and significance from one noun to another - Bound in this actor governed state of power , our actions slowly creep out of time, get colored by memory and lie in the recycling bin till - the next noun wants to give it an identity.

There are so many names around where i live :
Chutney - the Indian restaurant, Shalimar - the Pakistani restaurant, My DO - the Thai Hair cutting salon, The Bus stop for the MUNI , Hereford Building ( where i live) , The Ambassador - a Sleek bar for the young adult crowd to mix and match nouns at......

lost in this noun owned world , i try to be a verb everyday....
